KUANTAN: Although Asiah Jaafar (not her real name) is paying a heavy price for a mistake, the 40-year-old is not sitting down complaining about her fate.

She is determined to make sure others learn from her, and to show that life doesn't end with an HIV diagnosis.

Replica watches

Asiah was found to be HIV-positive in 2006, a couple of years after she had a relationship with a foreigner.

"I had the blood test three times to be sure. It was a difficult moment. I told myself it was the end of the world for me."

She said her ex-boyfriend was charming and looked healthy, so it never occurred to her that he could be infected with HIV, the human immunodeficiency virus.

"I kept the diagnosis a secret as I was afraid my family would ostracise me. I later told my brother and he advised me to seek treatment," she told a talk held yesterday in conjunction with World AIDS Day at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital.

The talk was organised by the Drugs Intervention Community (DIC), a non-governmental organisation that works with drug addicts.

Asiah went to a shelter for HIV patients in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, and was given intensive treatment for three months.

Embroidered Patches

With the help of the volunteers at Rumah Solehah, she regained her strength. And she realised she had to do something to help others.

"I became a volunteer, and I have taken part in programmes to create awareness about HIV and AIDS."

Last year, Asiah married 39-year-old Suhaimi (not his real name), who is also HIV positive.

They adopted a 4-year-old boy with HIV.

"I think God has given me a second chance, and I will use it to help others."

DIC patron Datuk Dr Ahmad Shukri Ismail said many HIV patients were abandoned by their families, making it difficult Marc Jacobs Bags for them to build a life.

"This is unfair as no one contracts HIV by choice."

Lightning struck. It left a courtyard of totems

headed for another grid square on a map.

When cries of the burning city reached Picasso

writhed at the painter's feet. All the years

drew past & present future perfect together

Although it was only a replica woven on a Embroidered Patches wall

BUHO the evil female elf, aka lab technician Robert Boyd, was yesterday convicted of stealing sexy undies at knifepoint.

His elf-defence plea failed when a Belfast Crown Court jury returned their majority guilty verdict.

There were 10 jurors who dismissed the 45-year-old's defence as a fairytale while two believed it.

His victim was heard to say "yes" when the verdict was read out.

The trial had heard Boyd, from Broadlands in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, had worn a blonde curly wig, reading glasses and beanie hat.

He stole pounds 250 worth of underwear from Orchid lingerie shop on the Lisburn Road in South Belfast.

Replica watches

The Queen's University senior lab technician was arrested within moments of the hold-up on December 14, 2005.

Boyd claimed that due to work and marriage pressures and his indulgence in a role-playing game called Shadowrun he thought he may have been playing the part of criminal elf Buho.

He threatened the lone female worker at knifepoint after asking for a discount and claimed he went to the shop to buy the two sets of red and black undies as a Christmas present for his wife.

Embroidered Patches

Boyd said he had blurred the lines between fantasy and reality and did not intend to rob the shop.

He told detectives: "I didn't mean it to happen."

His claims were supported by consultant psychiatrist Dr Jane O'Neill who told the court she thought Boyd may have been dissociated from reality.

But this was contradicted by prosecution consultant psychiatrist Dr Frederick Brown.

He said he could find nothing to suggest Boyd was "suffering from a mental disorder that prevented him from distinguishing between fantasy and reality or that rendered him incapable of forming intent".

Cartier Fake Handbags

Judge Patrick Lynch QC released Boyd on bail and sentencing was adjourned pending probation reports.

LESS than two weeks to go, and the women who are the wives behind the husbands who are the men who are the leaders who would be king - or king maker, perish the thought - have been enjoying some me-time.

Busy bee Sarah Brown takes a rare day off to be with her sons, former art student Samantha Cameron is painting watercolours in a field for no good reason and Miriam Gonzalez Durantez is in a lingerie shop, bulk buying bras. What the heck is going on? Miriam is also in an arm sling, although these two incidents are apparently not connected. The wife of the Lib Dem leader claims that she simply broke her elbow when nipping out to buy groceries at the weekend. As you do.

cheap coach purses

Yet pro-wrestling observers suggest that Mrs Clegg's injury looks far more like it was sustained during the execution of a classic elbow smash; seemingly a routine response in the Clegg household when Nick doesn't empty the dishwasher quickly enough.

Over the weekend, Mr Clegg was also encouraged, no prizes for guessing by whom, to leave the most important campaign of his life to spend more time with their three young sons - and attend Mass en famille.

Yes, Nick Clegg is an agnostic, a self-proclaimed man of no faith, a devotee of long periods of paternity leave for new dads - particularly for new dads called David Cameron. However, it has become bruisingly clear to the electorate during this campaign exactly who wears the trousers and dictates policy at Casa Clegg. Clue; not him.

And if Miriam really is such a hotshot international lawyer, a career woman who is far too busy to join her husband on the campaign trail, what the F-cup was she doing in a lingerie shop on a weekday afternoon for two hours? And not just any shop - it was Rigby & Peller, corsetieres to the queen and purveyors of Britain's fanciest frillies. These people are not just any old pants peddlers. That is the Labour Party's job now.

Interestingly, Miriam is the wife who appears least on the campaign trail but obviously has the greatest influence over her husband. And there are moments when one feels that the others could do worse than learn by her example. For don't you feel that the wives could do a little more to help their floundering husbands in this yo-yo election? Yes, our very own campaign Charlie's Angels are ever replica hublot watches ready to climb aboard their peep-toe wedges (Sarah's got a brand new pair in Labour red, a democratic [pounds sterling]45 from Office) and take to the streets to smile and wave nicely, but there are times when it is just not enough.

CAN'T Sarah stop Tweeting about inconsequentials and do something about her husband's inappropriate smiling? It is beginning to give schoolchildren nightmares. And yes, the wives manage to get their colour-coded husbands out the door every morning in the correct politically-themed tie, but there is much more presentational work to be done. Just look at the state of them!

On the televised debates and elsewhere, the men all wear far too much make-up, as if they had been hosed down in the effluvia produced by mixing leftover cafe lattes with glue. And Samantha really should tell David to lay off her Touche Eclat. In certain lights, the Tory leader doesn't look magisterial or statesmanlike - a look he clearly strives to achieve - he looks like a silvered egg.

Elsewhere, darling Samantha Cameron further indulged her astonishing new-found interest in the poor, maimed and socially disadvantaged. On the eve of the second leaders' debate in Bristol, she visited

And it has been using a combination of touch screens, artefacts, replicas and computer-generated re-enactments to get the message across.

Among the innovations at the museum has been a digital media forum with interactive exhibits, feature presentations and discussions for anyone interested in animation, computer games, digital art and web design.

The museum's Steph Mastoris said: "Research has shown that most people like to learn about history and technology through others and through interaction, which is why we make our exhibits so engaging.

"Our approach must be working as we have had nearly half-a- million visitors this year, though we have room for plenty more."

Heritage Minister Rhodri Glyn Thomas said: "The National Waterfront Museum in Swansea is a shining example of a 21st Century museum.

THE roots of one of the UK's most successful business tycoons were celebrated when a replica of his first shop opened to the public.

John James Fenwick, who went on to create what remains the biggest family owned department store chain in the country, started his career in his father's grocery shop in Frenchgate, Richmond.

Though now converted into a house, the building still stands, and experts at the Richmondshire Museum teamed up with the company for a two-year project to recreate Replica watches the shop down to the last detail.

It was opened last week by Mr Fenwick's great-great-grandsons, James and John.

Mike Wood, chairman of Richmondshire Museum, said: "It was fascinating to be able to see what the shop would have looked like.

We are really delighted with the results."

Born in 1846, the young John James worked in the grocery shop where his family made cheap candles, known as farthing dips, to cater for the tight budgets of Richmond residents.

After his mother died in 1860, the family moved to Middlesbrough, where he was apprenticed to a draper. This he did, and the original Fenwick store was founded in Newcastle in 1882, with a further eight branches over the subsequent century.

Mr Wood said: "We had the idea to recreate the shop because the original building is still standing, and you can clearly see how the shop front would have looked.

Thomas Wylde Bags

"We have worked together with the Fenwick family, many of whom are still very involved with the chain, to get the details just right.

"John James Fenwick led a fascinating life, and founded a business empire that is still thriving today.

Q: A few days ago, my husband and I received an invitation to a "tarts and vicars" party. We are very close to the couple who invited us. They attend all of our parties and are very generous to our children.

I know we should cheap coach purses go, but I have reservations. I'm not sure what to expect. We are all in our mid-to-late 40s, and I haven't worn provocative clothing in a long time.

Can you tell me what kind of party this is? I don't want to ask them, because I don't want to appear naive.

STEVE: Tarts and vicars? That has to be a tea party with clergymen featuring fruit pastry, no? What else could it possibly be, right Mia?

MIA: Haven't you seen Bridget Jones's Diary? It means the men dress like clergymen and the women wear lingerie. But I guess you could both wear vicar costumes. You shouldn't wear anything that makes you uncomfortable.

Q: I'm a 27-year-old man involved in a relationship with a 30-year-old woman that appears to replica hublot watches be heading toward marriage.

She has had partners in the past and, while I have too, hers is the first sexual relationship I've had.

Recently she said that she feels like inviting one of her ex-lovers over to our future home because she is so happy (we're planning to live on my grandparents' farm). She was with this guy while she was studying abroad in the Czech Republic, and I don't know much about him. I don't ask too many questions about past relationships because quite frankly, I don't want to know. I'm not against women having male friends, though ex-lovers I may be a little more reserved about.

My question is: Do I have a right to be bothered that she would bring someone back into her life from afar? And would I be right to expect that this ex-lover should not be allowed to stay in the same house with us?

MIA: Unfortunately, there are two schools of thought Clip on charms on this issue. I'm firmly in the "we broke up and now you're invisible camp," so I think socializing with exes is weird. But I know lots of people who see it as totally normal. I wouldn't pull a jealous boyfriend on her. Tell her it's fine if she wants to invite him for a short visit, but that he may get jealous viewing such a happy couple. She will be touched if you display a little insecurity, but not too much.

STEVE: I wouldn't be too worried about it, but you should have a good talk with her about this guy to make sure there are no unresolved feelings. You also need to find out how long he plans to stay. A few days should be OK.

TWO more of the wooden crosses carved from wood salvaged from the roof of the bombed Coventry Cathedral have come to light.

The tiny crosses became the focus of attention last month when it was revealed that one was being sent to Australia for inclusion in a replica of the Queen's coach. The coach is being fitted with many artefacts of historical significance.

Lynne Stanley, a teacher at Wyken Croft Primary School in Coventry, also has a cross, which she inherited from her late grandparents. She often uses it in lessons about the cheap coach purses war.

Mrs Stanley said: "I keep my wooden cross on the shelf at home and didn't realise they were getting quite rare nowadays.

I think my grandparents gave it to me because of how my own parents, Ena and Bernard Gibson, were lucky during the war. Both worked in factories that were bombed but escaped unhurt.

"My Dad worked at the Vulcan in Much Park Street in the city centre which suffered a direct hit while my Mum was at the Rover in Red Lane which was hit during the Blitz.

"I've always kept the cross, which is very precious, and I take it into school for history lessons."

Another of the crosses is treasured by Pamela Mannur, whose great-great grandfather, the late John William Elliott, used to be head verger at the old cathedral. Pamela, aged 52, who now lives in Kent, knows he went on to sit in the bombed cathedral selling souvenirs to replica hublot watches visitors.

The crosses carved from salvaged beams were almost certainly among the items sold to help with the rebuilding of the cathedral.

Pamela, a medical secretary, says this was the start of a long family connection with the ancient and modern buildings.

Pam's parents, Derek Elliott, who used to sing in the cathedral choir, and Joyce, live in Vicarage Lane, Ash Green.

Derek is the verger at Exhall St Giles Church.

Joyce said: "Pam's grandfather Herbert Elliott followed in his father's footsteps by becoming a verger at the old cathedral and then chief guide at the new one."

She added: "Pamela really treasures the old cross although we had no idea they were rare until reading the story in the Coventry Telegraph."

One of Tulsa's best rehabs owes its existence to David Littlefield's bachelor extravagances.

"Before I got married, I used to buy the worst house on the box and fix it up, flip it and roll the equity forward," said the longtime Tulsa advertising guru. "I've always enjoyed that."

In 1998 when Littlefield decided it was time for his expanding company to own its own roost, he looked for a Replica watches structure in need of a savior. He found it in the old, empty blockhouse IBM built in 1947 for its Tulsa training center.

That four-story, 40,000-square-foot steel and concrete eyesore sat among two others in dire need of reconstructive surgery. Reflective of many post-World War II structures, the IBM building offered open floor plates but little charm.

"I really fell in love with the neighborhood," Littlefield said. "I thought it would be a real challenge to take something that was the worst in the neighborhood and fix it up."

Littlefield hired architect Pat Fox to re-create 1307 S. Boulder with an Italian motif. Stripping it to the bone, Fox used plum bricks and red Arizona sandstone inside and out to inject dramatic character.

His one-year, $3.3 million project installed two-story atriums on the first and third floors. Fox used a fountain to instill a garden courtyard atmosphere on the ground floor, while a large skylight and central staircase gave the top two floors an open, community environment.

Fox refaced the entryway with a broad arch. And through it all, he incorporated steel elements to add an industrial touch, capped Embroidered Patches by a heavy metal cornice.

"It's a fantastic little building," said Tulsa office market analyst Ken Tooman. "It is top dollar from top to bottom. There was no expense spared on that building."

Taking possession in May 1999, Littlefield's firm occupied two floors and leased out the other half. It marked a renaissance of sorts, with Wally Bryce refurbishing the neighboring Adams and Leonard Building to house his insurance agency, and Paul Coury spending $5.5 million to revitalize the historic Ambassador Hotel. Together, they effectively re-created a key office block just south of downtown.

Then the challenges of building management caught up with Littlefield.

"Four years into that I woke up and decided I didn't want to be in commercial real estate," he said. "It really does put you in a whole different business."

Putting a "for sale" sign on Boulder, he soon fielded an inquiry from David Chernicky, chairman of the Tulsa energy company New Dominion LLC. Having appreciated Littlefield's effort and seeking a place for headquarters, Chernicky and New Dominion acquired the site in May 2005 for about $4 million, according to Manager of Media Resources Jack Money.

Chernicky added one prominent feature. As chairman of the Grand River Dam Authority, he became intrigued by studies of using light- emitting diodes (LEDs) for illumination. So he bought a programmable system capable of shining a wide variety of colors and patterns along the Littlefield Building cornice.

Designed and built by Insight Lighting with agent Triple C Light of Oklahoma City, the six-figure system installed by RCI Electric uses 384 linear feet of string lighting operated by electronic theater controls like Mulberry Bags Replica those on the

Looking at Lilac Cottage in Shepherds Lane, Ticknall, it is hard to believe it was once a milking parlour. Now that her children have left home, Pam Hollingworth hopes a new family will fall in love with the four-bedroomed home.Sue Robinson reports. Pictures by Lucy Shaw

If you want concrete evidence of just how successful barn and farm building conversions can be, look at Lilac Cottage, Shepherds Lane, Ticknall.

Perhaps concrete isn't the best links of london charms word to use when describing the four-bedroomed home, set in an acre of land.

As Pam Hollingworth explains, 15 years ago the former farm site was cowsheds, a milking parlour and farm buildings. It was all very basic and the ground was covered in concrete.

"It's obviously the most practical surface when you've got cows coming in for milking, but concrete doesn't have much place in the modern home!

"We needed machinery to break it up - the concrete was six or eight inches deep in places - and I had to organise a fleet of lorries to take the rubble away. The lorries then came back loaded with top soil and we bought in tractors and seeded the area.

The barns were converted and sold before the Hollingworths turned Lilac Cottage into their family home.

The main part is the former milking parlour. Pam laughs as she recalls encountering yet more concrete: "The milking stalls all had to be broken up and taken away and the concrete floor removed.

"I was well versed in organising a fleet of lorries to take it all away."

New flooring was installed, and a first floor created with light and airy rooms thanks to Velux windows in the roof. The result is an ideal rural retreat.

Pam put the finishing touches to the cottage, choosing the kitchen, furniture and furnishing and colour schemes.

Handily, as she works in property development, sourcing materials wasn't a problem.

"I applied the same principles to Lilac Cottage as I do to the homes we develop. It had to have a homely feel. It didn't lend itself to a hi-tech minimal look."

Later the cottage was extended to create a dining area, downstairs toilet and a guest bedroom above, accessed from a wrought iron spiral staircase.

About four years ago a second extension created a day room and a master bedroom above, and also meant the spiral staircase could be removed.

Now the property boasts a family bathroom and two of the four bedrooms are en-suite.

Pam says the day room has made a big difference: "I love cooking and entertaining and it means I can be working in the kitchen and chat away to guests while they relax in the day room.

"It's a very social area and great at Christmas - the whole place looks really lovely with all the decorations."

She admits the three Christmas trees she puts up might be a little indulgent but then Christmas Day is her birthday.

"I'm a Ticknall girl and my birth was the talk of the village that Christmas," she laughs.

It's the peace and tranquility of the area which she loves so much.

There are walks all around, including a bridleway which leads to the National Forest.

A true one-off, in the shape of the Longmore Jaguar, will grace the SKOPE Classic this year as a racing demonstration of the passion and dedication of a South Island motoring aficionado who is no longer with us.

The Longmore Jaguar is the legacy of Barry Longmore, who was killed in a car accident on his way to Invercargill in 1996. In the early 1990s, he commissioned the car as a replica of the HWM Jaguar raced in England by Rivers Fletcher in the late 1950s and 60s.

Now, the car's current owners, Paul and Lisa Coghill, of Dunedin, are bringing the vehicle to the classic for Christchurch's vintage- car enthusiasts.

While there are many replica racers in the world, few involve so much local expertise and draw upon the engineering legacies of so many different sources, from Aston Martin to the South Island's own jet-boating community.

To begin with, the car has a replica HWM chassis engineered locally and fitted with an aluminium body crafted replica tag heuer watches by Barry Leitch, of Invercargill.

The front suspension was then grafted in by Jim Bennett, of Furi Holdings, who also designed and built the De Dion rear suspension as well as the car's braking system.

Bennett also fitted a Jaguar independent differential driven by a fish-out-of-water 3.4-litre Jaguar overhead cam engine which develops 283hp at 5200rpm. A motor originally built by Brian Middlemass for endurance jet boat racing, it is known for never having failed to finish an event.

Paul Coghill will have the honour of driving the Longmore Jaguar at the classic, but if he looks a little uncomfortable on the track, it will be because of the car's Moss gearbox, which is situated between the driver's legs.

Eagle-eyed car enthusiasts may also note another peculiarity to this Jaguar, namely its wheels, which were donated from an Aston Martin DB3 and reduced in diameter to 15 inches to achieve drive ratio.

"The car still had considerable work to be done at the time of Longmore's death. However, his wife, Fiona, wanted the car to be completed and raced, considering it to be a fitting memorial to her late husband," Proctor says.

"Completion of the project was achieved in 1999 and since then, Paul has enjoyed his time at the wheel of this very unique vehicle."
